Corners
In the last months of my undergraduate degree, I painted my thesis paintings in 808 Commonwealth Avenue, or what some would call a musty, miscell-aneous warehouse. But on its fifth floor, this building held a unique opportunity for me paint the dynamic interactions of light and color.
I found the walls in this warehouse, its corners, offered the most compelling interactions of light and color other than those I've seen on the human figure. In painting corners I chose contemplation over move-ment in a place that requires movement--one moves around a corner or backs away from it. I acted against the haste of the contemporary world, and moved with the pace of light.
